Fruit 7 of 9

Faith

Reliability born of trusting a reliable God.

Pistis
Faith (Pistis) — fruit of the Spirit

The teaching

Pistis means both faith and faithfulness. Because God is trustworthy, His people become trustworthy — people who keep their word, finish what they start and can be counted on.

Faith is not certainty about outcomes; it is confidence in a Person. It rests on God's proven character rather than on visible evidence.

Faithfulness is unglamorous and daily. It shows up in the small commitments long before it is tested in the large ones.

Supporting scriptures

  • "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

    Hebrews 11:1

  • "His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

    Lamentations 3:22-23

  • "One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much."

    Luke 16:10
