Peace
The presence of Christ in the conflict, not the absence of conflict.
The teaching
Eirene carries the sense of wholeness — everything in its right place. It begins with peace *with* God through Christ and flows into the peace *of* God guarding the heart.
This peace is not passive. Peacemakers actively pursue reconciliation, refuse gossip and absorb offence rather than spread it.
The Spirit's peace is often felt as an unusual steadiness in a situation that should be shaking you. It is evidence that Christ is present, not that the storm has stopped.
